GOING DEPPER! Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard
This case is really taking the world by storm. Whether you're on tik tok, youtube, or the regular 'ole news, it's in your face.
I want to talk about Amber Heard.
Amber Heard has been a polarizing figure this entire trial. Amber's mental state has been fodder for dinner tables all over the United States for weeks. I get it! This case is enthralling.
We are getting a front row seat deep into the lives of the rich and famous. Personal assistants, psychology experts, staff, friends, family, we have heard from them all (no pun intended!). We are seeing these people's medical prescriptions for crying out loud.
Most of what I hear about Amber Heard is that she is "crazy." Or, "Amber has abused Johnny too!"
Okay, and....? Amber is on trial for defamation, not abuse.
These are grown up theater kids. They're gunna be weird. No offense.
The important thing to remember about Amber Heard testifying is that it doesn't matter if you think she's crazy. It matters that the jury thinks shes crazy. It matters if the jury finds her unbelievable.
From what I have seen so far, Amber Heard's testimony seems believable to me. She has admitted to her role in each fight. Amber admits to saying provoking and snotty things to Johnny. She has photos that match up with what she has told the jury. She has provided audio that supports what she is telling the jury.
Amber testified to many fights between her and Johnny in great, theatrical detail. This is because the jury needs more information besides, "Johnny hit me!" to come to a conclusion regarding this case. There are millions of dollars on the line.
Amber's job on the witness stand is to explain to the jury why she asserted that Johnny abused her. Amber needs to poke holes in Johnny's theory that Johnny was never abusive and Amber is a liar.
When Amber explains things in details like feeling Johnny's boot on her back, or being on the floor, she's providing the jury with every piece of evidence that she can to show that there is abuse there. The jury only needs to believe one instance of abuse to find that Amber was truthful in her statement.
We can talk about Johnny and his courtroom behavior later.
